This year has been a rough one for Lee and I. We have hunted hard but not been able to located mature deer we want to harvest. Finally on November 13 success happened. We were set up on the farm in Minnesota where I shot my muzzleloader buck last year. I put a lot of work into this farm this year planting a Mossy Oak Biologic Maximum and Clover Plus food plot back up with soybeans and corn. Early on I mowed a path through the corn field creating a path for the deer to come out of the woods and easily travel to the food plot in front of the stand.

This day, the plan came together. A big ten pointer we call "short G2" was chasing does on the hillside above us. This deer is 5-6 years old. He has been on the farm since we started hunting it. The does made their way down the path through the corn, escorting short G2 in front of the stand. The buck nibbled a some Biologic before I stopped him at 28 yards. It feels good to finally have a buck on the ground in the midwest. Now my sights are set on getting a buck down in Iowa and Lee a buck in Minnesota.
