After filming my team-mate Rod Owen kill his buck on the first afternoon of our 6 day hunt, I had 5 & 1/2 days to sit back and wait for an awesome Mississippi buck to make a fatal mistake... On Friday near noon, it was about to happen.  The wind was finally right to return to the Nuttall acorn tree from which Rod had harvested his 141" P & Y whitetail 5 days before. We decided to hunt until 11:45 am, due to the moon and the perfect conditions... At around 11:35am, we saw a buck headed slowly in our direction. The buck was taking so long to come in, that at 11:40 I had to send our guide Bobby Culbertson a desperation text to "Hold Off!!!" The buck facing us while eating acorns at 45 yards while I was sending out the text!   Finally at 11:47 the buck presented me with a 37 yard shot. The arrow flew true, and it wasn't long before I was calling Bobby from the tree to tell him we were done!  After reviewing the footage at the lodge, we elected to go after him as soon as the other hunters were dropped back off for the evening hunt.  The buck made it about 125 yards before we looked up and saw the Nocturnal lighted nock sticking up in the air.  The celebration began!

We returned to the cooler at the lodge.  Bobby began getting text after text that other hunters had also been knocking some bucks down.  All total, 6 bucks were harvested on this special day...  Special thanks goes out to Drury Outdoors for allowing us the oportunity to win this hunt.  To Bobby and all the awesome guides at Tara, thanks for the memories of a lifetime you provided us with!  And thanks to Don Bales for the lucky "kumquat" you gave me, lol!  Just goes to show you that I'll put anything in my pocket if you tell me it'll bring me good luck!  The funniest thing of all.... I gave 3 of the 4 lucky kumquats away to 3 other hunters that afternoon that killed a deer as well!  Too funny man!...  And most important, thanks to God for the awesome year...  Team Reconyx is gonna keep after them until the whistle blows for Dream Season The Journey!
