November 8: Brandon Jennings

After waiting for four years I finally drew the coveted Iowa bow tag. The search was immediately on for a place to hunt. I got lucky and found a great lease and I couldn't wait to put out the Reconyx cameras and see what kind of bucks were calling this farm home. Much to my delight the Reconyx's snapped pics of many mature bucks and tons of deer so it was time to hang the Big Game stands and get after them.

Once sweet November rolled around I started hunting the farm hard and I was seeing many shooters and 20-30 deer per sit, so I knew it was just a matter of time before one of the big boys crossed one of my shooting lanes. My cameraman for the trip Earle Hammond was supposed to return to work on the November 8th but the action was so crazy that he called into work and got one more day off and man am I glad he did! The next morning was cold and frosty and the deer were moving. After just constant action our 34th deer of the morning was this guy. He walked in putting on a show, chased off a smaller buck then made a scrape right in front of the stand (the trail cam pic is moments before the shot). He ended up walking in to two yards and I released the Rage Extreme and at the end of a short 60 yard blood trail I found my Iowa prize.
