December 19: Alisha Coon

To say the least, this is my favorite hunt of the year and that's with my daughter Alisha! But a real big thanks goes out to Dave owner of Northwest Missouri Outfitters LLC. Dave was gracious enough to invite Alisha to hunt the late season in Missouri. The only problem was Alisha's work schedule as a BDC Manager at Jim Butler Chevrolet and her big involvement in Making Strides against Breast Cancer for the St. Louis area. So when I advised Dave that Alisha only had two days to get it done, he was very confident it could be done. With opening morning bringing cold temps at 17 degrees the deer moved very well just not what we were looking for. After a few hours at the lodge it was time to head back to a location that Dave was feeling confident about! As we walked to the blind an got settled in Alisha looked at me and said we should kill a deer here! I have to say Dave put us in a blind that over looked a cut corn field with a thick timber draw to the left of the box blind. Well as the afternoon started to unfold, we started seeing deer movement in the draw and it wasn't long before a parade of doe's began pouring into the field. After about ten minutes I saw horns coming through the timber and all I could see was tall G-1's. I told Alisha bucking was coming out into the field and after she got a quick look with the Nikons, it was time to grab her Traditions! Needless to say the rest is history and I could not be more proud of her making a great shot on another Whitetail for Team Mad! "I know one thing Alisha didn't get her shooting skills from Old Dad" Anyway a big thanks goes out to Dave at Northwest Missouri Outfitters LLC. It's for sure a place you need to check out if your looking for a place to hunt in Missouri!
