December 29: John O'Dell

If at first you don't succeed.... So after not filling my Kansas tag in November I was back again with good friend Brad Czapanskiy with Highland Ridge Outfitters in North Central KS.  He had found a giant massive mainframe 10pt with split G1's and some sticker points.  We talked through how to set the Muddy Redemption blind and Reconyx camera in a cut corn field in a skinny pinch for any West wind.  We would use a dry creek bed for our approach with the wind in our face to stay undetected.  Brad had everything dialed up so we just needed Mother Nature to cooperate and give us some cold temps!  Well after Christmas we got the weather we needed and I was on my way to KS.  On the first evening the plan worked to perfection.  The giant showed up at 4:30pm following several does and when he got to 35 yards I closed the chapter on this KS giant with my PSE and Rage deadly duo!  With just over 6" bases, 25" main beams and 12" G3's he's a stud!  A big thank you to Brad and to my wife Suzy for granting me one last hall pass to deer hunt in 2015!
