October 22: Jacob ODell

There is nothing quite like hunting with your children and I feel so blessed that my son Jacob shares my passion for the outdoors.  One of the hunts we look forward to the most every year is our father and son hunts in South Texas Bow Madness style! If you read my DOD journal entry or follow my social media then you know that Mother Nature blessed us again this year in South Texas with more quality H2O!  I was able to take a great mature buck and Jacob made his filming debut.  So since then we have been trying to get him on a big old mature South Texas stud.  One of our target bucks was a buck we nick named "La Freak" because he is a big old freaky non typical with double drop tines.  He has been tough to pattern, but finally we had our first good cold front in South Texas with temps in the low 50'a and high pressure/low humidity.  So we climbed into our Muddy blind near a water tank on a field edge where we had a couple pictures of the buck And the rest as they say is history.  My sons target buck read the script and Jacob did the rest with his PSE Fever bow and Rage SS broadhead!  I am so proud of him as this is his second great buck with a bow at age 15 and he has made great shots on both deer.  It does not get much better than this and to me it is what Bow Madness is all about!  Be safe and good hunting!
