Spoon Fed

Turkey season is finally here, and I couldn't wait to get out and hunt! I had been working the first three days of the season, and hadn't been out yet. I had gotten off of work at the evening of April 20th and was going to leave early the next morning. I wasn't going to be able to get up there until at least 7 or 8 am. I kept thinking, I should just drive up in the middle of the night! So that's what I did!

I left my house at around 1:15am, and it was off to north Missouri! A few energy drinks and three hours later I was at our farm. I hadn't shot my bow in a while, so after a couple shots in the headlights of the truck, it was off to the farm.

We decided to sit in a ground blind that was on a clover field where dad had heard some birds the day before. We barely got the King Strut and Shady Lady out when the birds started gobbling right off the field.

The two longbeards pitched right off the limb and into the field. The gave us a show!! Struting and gobbling for nearly 15 minutes all the way down the clover field. Finaly I got the shot I wanted and the PSE Axe hammered him! The bird went just out of the field and it was all over! This was my first spring gobbler with a bow and I can guarantee you it wont be the last!! Thanks to Pop for spoon feeding me on an awesome hunt!!
