Well, Kyle and I packed up our gear and headed west for Hiawatha, Kansas. Our destination was Thunder Valley Trophy Hunts, to pay a visit to Larry Olmstead and all the birds he has on his properties. After six hours of driving, Kyle and I found ourselves firmly implanted in a ground blind in the middle of turkey heaven. It didn't take long to strike, an hour into the first morning we had our first bird down. I have to give a big thanks to Larry on that one, being that he had him picked out for us so all that i had to do was pull the trigger.

We put Kyle up to bat, and the awesome hunting continued. We had birds all over us, but the longbeards were hanging at about 70 yds. However, day two of Kyle's hunt things changed. We were in the middle of a gang fight that consisted of 7 jakes beating up on two old longbeards. The gangsters kept the longbeards at bay for a few hours, however, one decided to try and run past Kyle, but he was able to drop him on the move at 40 yds. I must say it was a great shot by my partner that I wish all of you could see it, however, the producer (me) forgot to hit record in all the excitement, whoops, my apologies.

The moral of the story is that one is only as good as his/her property. So if your looking for an area/outfitter to hunt some spring gobbler you need to give thunder valley trophy hunts a look. The birds are in abundance and the lodge is top notch. Visit www.thundervalleyhunts.com or give old Larry a call and he will hook you up. Oh yeah, he has huge deer as well, look at those beasts to the right. The big one goes a whopping 213"!!
