You gotta love switching from bow to rifle. Makes you feel like your cheating but I couldn’t pass up the Missouri rifle season on my farm in Sullivan County. Too many shooters on my farm this year! We sat on a big Biologic food plot the first evening of our hunt and saw plenty of deer but no bucks that would make it to the back of the truck. We decided to get aggressive and head into a bedding area and sit on the ground. It was one of those places that I just didn’t go unless I was shed hunting in the Spring. I decided that it was November 14th and I didn’t have a buck down this year so why not be a bit more aggressive.

It sure paid off about 8:50 am we saw a good buck cruising a bedding area. I had time to stand up and get a good look at him through the Nikon scope. I knew immediately he was a shooter by the extremely long g2s. Once my camera man gave me the go I sent a bullet through his shoulders and dropped him like a sack of potatoes at a mere 50 yards. Once I got up to take a close look at him I realized it was the buck I have photographed for the last 4 years on my trail cameras. I have several Reconyx photos of him this year at the age of 6. He was an old Warrior that lived a good life on the farm. He was laid to rest today!
