November 16: Jeff Lindsey

I guess like the old saying goes “when it rains-it pours” refers to my Iowa deer season. After shooting my first Iowa buck on the 13th, I took a few days off, filmed Lil’ Jon some and gave my body a needed rest. I had no clue that the next time I climbed up a tree that the deer I had wanted to kill since the first of October was going to challenge me to a game of cat and mouse on one of my favorite ridges.

We had an encounter with this buck on the 7th of October and shared it on the Inner Circle. I realized then he was just as big in real life as he was on our Reconyx photos. This deer had the biggest body of any deer on our farm and he was on our most wanted list. I would’ve liked for Lil’ Jon to kill him but when he came running up the hill right to us in the set we call “The Playground”, we had no time for the switcheroo. He passed through my first shooting lane in a slow run and wouldn’t stop until he was 47 yards. I was about to take the shot but Jon talked me out of it so I kept trying to get his attention wheezing at him. He finally had enough and came right to us stopping broadside at 30 yards. My Titanium Rage passed through him like hot butter and he took off on a death run. The old bruiser we called “Half-Rack” was dead and I was one happy bowhunter. You got to love sweet November!
