Late season rolls around and we had 3 goals, get my mom, my sister, and my friend Walker a buck. Done, now it was my turn. I was looking for 2 things, a fully mature buck and one that was still packing a complete set of antlers. Last years tough winter in Iowa had about 50% of the bucks on our farm sporting 1 or no antlers, very frustrating!. On top of this, the weather had been unseasonably warm for this time of year with no snow. We needed snow!

Well on the way to the stand that afternoon, we got the snow, only about a inch but it got the bucks on their feet. The first couple of deer out were some stud 3 and 4 year olds but they were not what we were looking for. Out of nowhere we notice a large body deer in the field mixed in with some does, he raises his head and has white main beams that go straight up like a slingshot! I had no clue who this deer was at the time, but he was just what we were looking for and the TC did the deed .... we had our buck! I later found a shed in our pile from him that we picked up 2 years ago. An awesome way to the end the season and we couldn’t have been happier! - Jeff
