October 11: Louie Payne

After a very painful few days of dealing with kidney stones I finally got back to woods but moving rather slowly we headed out to one of our Biologic food plots where I had been getting several buck pics.

I have been getting Reconyx pictures since mid July and I made a hit list of 5 different bucks and they ranged from 125 to 140 and after accepting the responsibility of filming Dream Season Celebrity this year I knew Lance and I had our hands full.  We have a lot of hunting trips planed as well as two group hunts and I drew an Iowa archery tag this year after three long years of waiting so Lance and I will not have a lot of time to hunt our home state Kentucky especially prime time rut since we will be in the mid western states. There was no doubt I was going to drop the hammer if I get a chance and guess who showed up in the Biologic Perfect Plot on the evening of the 12th day of October… none other than High & Tight, a gorgeous 8 pointer that obviously got his name for having a tall and narrow rack. He came down the edge of the CRP and started making a scrape under a overhanging limb about 20 yards from us. He then stepped out into the food plot standing 12 yards from our tree. I put my pin on his rib cage and the green Lumenok blew right through him and stuck in the ground so I knew I smoked him. We recovered him 100 yards later and put an end to a perfect hunt. He is not the biggest buck on my farm, but you can bet I am proud to harvest such a beautiful 3 ½ year old buck.

Adam Wainwright is our celebrity this year on Dream Season and Lance and I could not be any happier, we are looking forward to hunting with him at Hadley Creek this weekend and with any luck Adam will put the smack down on a bruiser!
This kill was needed to get Team Wainwright on the board and we hope this is the start to many more to hit the ground. -Louie Payne
