Well, I would like to say that long hours in the field, and diligent scouting is the reason we were able to harvest a longbeard on the first day of season within the first hour. However, its not, although Kyle did make a couple a scooter cruises, yeah that’s right scooter cruises, to see where the birds were roosting. The night before the opener Kyle and I popped a blind in what we labeled as a “strut zone” in the hopes one would pass our setup. Fortunately for us, the flight and walk from tree limb to 20 yards only took about an hour. Thanks to Kyle and his newly acquired skill called “scooter scouting” I was able to harvest my first longbeard. I have always enjoyed filming turkey hunts, but was never quite sold on them like I am on whitetails. However, with a little bit of success, I am starting to get a case of the “madness”. Hopefully Kyle can do the same with our 5th season tag!
