November 4: Jeff Lindsey

November the 5th! I woke up this morning thinking life is good when it’s November 5th in southern Iowa and you got a buck tag in your pocket! After a week of incredibly warm temperatures, the shooters were sparse but we knew it still had to happen. On November 1st, Bobby, my cameraman had to go back to work but I told him he MUST be back by the 5th.

After passing a couple shooters over the next couple of days because I was hunting solo, Bobby comes back and we decided to go to where I had seen a Big 8 chasing in the timber. I knew the odds were slim he would be back, but with the south wind and rain on the way, it was worth the chance. The evening started off slow with only 1 button buck the first 2 hours and the 2nd deer we seen that night was the Big 8. And wouldn’t you know Murphy’s Law had to pop up, we had the camera in the bag because of the rain coming down and we had to hurry to get it out in time to get the kill. The rage found it’s mark, went to eating and he only ran 30 yards before going down. Got to love November the 5th! 1 year to the date I shot Clubby, my biggest buck ever and now we just gave another big framed Iowa buck a dirt nap! - Jeff
