The 9th of November and what a special day it was. Just a week ago Coon Dog was able to harvest his Illinois buck and on today’s date it was Joe’s turn to put a Rage in the cage!

Joe and Dog have been putting in overtime in the tree stand this season. But it was all worth it on the cold November morning when the rut kicked in. From daybreak until high noon the big bucks were on their feet chasing does. The activity was so intense that Joe said it was one of his best days in the timber to witness the rut activity. All morning long Joe had numerous encounters with big bucks but was unable to close the deal.

Every time Joe thought he was in the ball game, a doe would come along pull the buck away from him. But one mature buck made the fatal mistake of following a doe right past the stand. As the buck chased the doe past the stand, Joe was able to put a well placed shot on the buck as he was quartering away. The buck ran only 25 yards...fell on film...thus making an easy track job for Joe and Dog!

What a heck of a week!
