Tons of history with this 6 year old buck I called Pitch Fork. I hunted hard for him last year. I had many encounters with him but was never offered a good shot until the last day of the season.

I decided to pass him knowing that he would only be bigger next year. Going into the 2019 season I was pumped knowing Pitch Fork was around. Started getting some great Reconyx pictures and formulating a plan. His core area was small and I knew I had a good chance if I played my cards right.

The morning of October 28 was my first sit of the year. I woke up to 4 inches of fresh snow. I set up on the downwind side of his core area. Sure as heck he came right past my stand. Somehow I managed to miss him. I was self-filming and just had too much going on to fast. Pitch Fork ran about 40 yards and stopped not having a clue what just happened. He headed into his core area and I knew I had a pretty good chance that afternoon.

I called Mark McCauley and asked if he would film. We set up in a brand new setup that I had prepared in August, really close to his bedroom area. Well sure enough he showed up and gave me a 4 yard shot.
