Story as told by Richard Saenz:

Richard Saenz and Dave Reisner team up and head to Northern Saskatchewan to a fly in only camp known as Black Bear Island Lodge. Once they reached their destination they were greeted by the Enns: DJ, Dawn, Audrey, and Cortney. Richard and Dave arrived as friends but left feeling they were part of the Enns family. The Enns family truly welcomes their hunters with open arms and are prepared to provide and experience of a lifetime.

We were awoken each morning with muffins and coffee, and then given time to shower and prepare for the day. Next, we met at the main lodge for a home cooked breakfast. Then it was off to the lake with our native guide for a morning of Walleye and Trophy Northern Pike fishing. Richard latched on to a 47 inch pike, and Dave caught plenty of walleye for the lake shore lunch which is prepared by the guide.

On May 28, 2007 after a warm day of fishing Richard and Dave head off to the bear stand. As Richard sits in the bear stand he is unprepared for the drastic temperature drop. Covering up with the only jacket they had Richard fights to keep warm and control the shivering in order to be able to pull back a bow. Things begin to heat up as a beautiful cinnamon bear slowly approaches within 15 yards. As the bear works his way broad side he senses something is wrong and begins to walk away. Richard is already at full draw when Dave gives a deer grunt and the bear turns back to determine what the noise is. Richard takes advantage of the opportunity and launches a Rage broad head in a perfect quartering away shot. The bear runs off at full speed and only make it 5 yards before rolling into a ball and expiring on camera. Richard was over taken by the cold weather and a bad case of bear fever.

The following evening Dave got his opportunity to rid himself of bear fever. Dave has numerous encounters with black bear of all sizes, but is undecided on one particular bear that works his way within 5 yards. Richard gives the okay to shoot, but is soon surprised that Dave chose to pass this time. After reviewing the footage back at the lodge Dave realizes he made a critical mistake. With 2 days left of hunting will Dave get a second chance to rid his bear fever?
