Ty was born and raised in central Texas, and spent most of his youth learning the outdoors on family ranches in central Texas and summer vacations fishing, rafting, hiking and camping in the west. Ty harvested his first whitetail buck in a foot of snow on a spot and stalk hunt with his Dad in central Texas in 1984. In high school and college, Ty and his brother started to film duck hunts, deer rattling and motorcycle racing with a VHS camera. After two degrees in wildlife management, Ty managed several large ranches in Texas for private landowners. It was at this time that his relationship began with Drury Outdoors. In 1998, Ty guided Mark Drury and Tad Brown on a turkey hunt in the Texas panhandle and got a taste of what it was like to film professionally. In 2004, Ty and his hunting partner, Al Shacklett, were chosen to be the amateur team from Texas on Dream Season 2 Television. Ty and Al express shock at having been selected for the show, and consider themselves privileged to be a part of the Drury Outdoors Team today. The experience and friendships we have made in the last 18 months are priceless. I hope we can continue to add new and exciting forays in the outdoors to the Drury Team in the future.
