April 14 - Tom Ware
Hunter: Tom Ware
Animal: Turkey
Location: Iowa
Weapon: PSE X-Force
We were all set up by 5:30 am and heard the first bird gobble at 5:49am. Several hens flew down in the field we were set up in at first light but soon disappeared across the field with four jakes. We knew there was at least one big gobbler in the timber behind us but he had to cross a small creek to get to us. We decided to wait him out and be patient. We made sure to only call occasionally and sit tight. It took until about 7:30am to finally get him interested. He flew across the creek and came right in to the decoys perfect. I was able to make a nice shot and the rage broadhead did the trick.
He was my first spring gobbler with a bow. Pretty cool feeling! My cameraman Brennan Davidson and I went to breakfast to celebrate and our wives and kids were happy that we would be home before expected.
