I found this deer one evening in September doing velvet scouting, I knew we had to take his picture. Saturating what we thought was his home range or the out skirts of it anyway. We hung several Reconyx cameras in strategic locations to isolate where he would and would not move . We soon found out he had one preferred trail he liked and felt safe traveling. This buck was a regular at our camera set up. Never during daylight hours though. Until the 16th of October. I took a few pictures of him on his feet, hard horned and during daylight hours. He’s capable of mistakes, I just need to be here when he’s there! It was now Game On!

After a solid month of hunting with a no show from the deer we nicknamed the Mega 10. Jared Rotenburger and I took to the tree on the morning of November 12th, after a foggy start to our morning the deer activity was great. Only a few hours into our sit; Who shows himself but the Mega 10, and at 70 yards and closing the distance. I couldn’t believe he was there and coming into bow range. I was so amazed with how wide his antlers set off his head. The big buck cautiously walked straight at the camera as though he read the script!

My PSE Pro Series X-Force put one in the 10 ring at 30 steps. After a huge mule kick the giant turned and ran south with my arrow buried to the fletching! With what seemed like a huge ax wound from the two bladed Rage broad head, there was not much of a track job. Hands on, Big Smiles, Team Frank!!! That’s the way we did it the morning of November 12th!!!!!!!! -John
