About the Journal
November 25 - Tom Ware
Hunter: Tom Ware
Animal: 135" Whitetail
Location: Illinois
Weapon: PSE X-Force
I had only one more bow hunt before Thanksgiving break and time spent with the family and friends. The wind was right for the same tree I harvested a nice buck back on November the 9th, so my cameraman and I headed for the tree arriving very late. About 4:15 pm we saw this nice 8 point emerge from the bedding area and start feeding in the cut corn. After about 15 to 20 minutes of pre-roll of him eating corn he finally headed our way and offered me a 35 yard broadside shot. My new firenock lit arrow found its mark and I soon realized my Illinois buck season had ended.
A sadness fell over me that I would be done buck hunting in Illinois, but also a feeling of releaf was there as well. I knew I wouldn’t have to get up countless more mornings at 4:30 am trying to fill my tag in Illinois. Now I will have to head to Missouri or Iowa if I want to continue hunting this year….and I can’t wait to see what’s there!
