Opening day of Illinois gun season found Joe and Dog in a new set they named The Scrape Set. Even though the temps were in the low teens, the boys knew they had to sit until noon because of the scouting report from the Reconyx camera. The photos showed some mature whitetails working the scrape between 10:30 and 11am.
Just like clock work, a mature 8 point came to the scrape and what a show he put on for the camera. After working the scrape the buck worked within 15 yards of Coon Dog. With a little help from the Thompson Center Omega, Dog had his IL buck on the ground. Joe and Dog would like to add that without the Reconyx camera doing the scouting for them they would not have set so long in the tree that cold November morning waiting for that 10:30 to 11am movement.
