On April 3rd, we went back to the same field Eric killed his bird in on opening day. After first light, several Toms pitched down into the big soybean field we were hunting. Eric got the interest of a mature Tom, and the show was on. We had only the hen decoy out, and Eric soft called him all the way in from 150 yards, strutting the entire way.

The Tom came in and climbed up on our decoy and proceeded to attempt to breed her. Eric put a perfect shot on him while he was on top of the hen. He never knew the arrow hit him, and after about thirty seconds, he stumbled off, took ten steps and fell over dead.
