We started off seeing lots of young bucks, but where were the big boys, locked down or just not moving? On the morning of the 17th we decided to try a hardwoods ridge above a corn field and intercept a cruising buck trying to find one of the last few does to come in heat. At 7:45 a.m. the first deer we seen was a mature buck headed right for us. My cameraman moves and his stand pops, LOUD, the buck looks up at us but I guess decides that he has had a longer month than we have and keeps on walking right to us. Before I decide who he is and if I am going to shoot him, he walks right past our tree and stops 17 yards behind a cedar to smell where we walked in. This was good for us, bad for him. We recognize him as “The Brow Tine Buck”, he was slightly quartering away and we raged him. 150 yards, he was dead, we were pumped, game over. - Jeff
